A prominent topic led by Rebecca Young at the Members Assembly was, the challenges smaller organisations face against larger organisations, when working in collaboration. NCVO created the perfect environment for charities of all sizes to understand the main concerns of the sector, which included: undercutting, idea theft, forced partnerships, skill sharing, data sharing, and the lack of trust between organisations.
When competing against larger bodies, metrics showcasing why your non-profit organisation holds stronger capabilities to complete a bid is essential. As a smaller organisation, you will often need to rebalance the relationship against larger organisations. After speaking with Mia Wain from Talk Space Counselling & Wendy Davis from Rooms of Our Own, we were able to understand why metrics about their organisation’s work wasn’t easily available. As well as not being NCVO members, a commonality between them was the lack of funding and finances for resources.
